Instead of memorizing seven different mode shapes, look at where the pentatonic you already know sits inside each mode. The pentatonic is every mode minus two notes — the 4th and the 7th.
Add those two notes back in the right spots, and you’re already playing the mode. Same fingering territory. Just two color tones added.
That single shift turns “modes” from abstract theory into something you can actually use over a backing track. Keep your pentatonic shape. Add the 4 and 7. The mode appears.
